If you are applying for a passport with your spouse’s name included, it will take approximately 4-6 weeks for the entire process to be completed. This processing time may vary depending on the number of applications being processed at the time of your application.

To add your spouse’s name to your Indian passport, you will need to submit the following documents:

• A completed application form
• Your current passport
• Two recent passport photographs of yourself and your spouse
• A copy of your marriage certificate 

Additional Documents

If you are looking to add your spouse’s name to your Indian passport, there are a few documents that you will need to submit. These include:

• Proof of Marriage- This should be a photocopy of your marriage certificate and/or an affidavit from both parties declaring that they are husband and wife (this can be obtained at Hindu marriage ceremonies)
• Proof of Relationship- The relationship between you and your spouse is established by submitting copies of identity cards or passports with dates showing how long each person has lived in India before their marriage took place—and if either party has ever been deported from India for overstaying his/her visa or passport.

• ·         Rs. 1,500 for passports issued in India
• ·         Rs. 3,000 for passports issued abroad

In addition to the above fees, you will also need to pay the standard application fee for a new passport, which is currently Rs. 1,000 for five-year passports and Rs. 2,000 for ten-year passports.
